The Sensory Activity Sack was inspired by a foster child who had spent several months in a holding center awaiting placement. Although the initial application was geared towards children aged 0 to 5, a seven-year-old girl with Trisomy, severe developmental challenges, blindness, cerebral palsy affecting her left arm, and the added complication of Pica, a condition that led her to bite, and tear her clothes and ingest parts of her diaper. This young girl required constant supervision, and her sensory needs made it challenging to find suitable solutions. After countless attempts to mitigate her habits, including crafting gloves and special clothing, the creator found herself on the verge of having her removed from her care.
However, one night, in a moment of desperation at 4 AM, the creator unzipped the girl’s one-piece flannel footsie pajamas, placed her hand inside, and re-zipped it. Astonishingly, she fell asleep peacefully. This revelation made the creator realize the significance of sensory issues in her life.
This realization led to the creation of ‘The Sensory Activity Sack,’ designed to provide comfort and sensory stimulation. The inner sack of the garment allows for the placement of sensory toys, creating a soothing experience. This product became a lifesaver for both the girl and the creator.
Today, at the age of 23, the girl continues to find comfort and solace in the Sensory Activity Sack, which has transformed her life and their ability to care for her. With the doctor’s approval, she wears it consistently, experiencing better sleep and improved behavior. She is a joyful and contented young lady. The creators hope that this product, born out of love and necessity, can bring similar positive changes to your loved ones with special needs. Thank you for considering ‘The Sensory Activity Sack’ for your special someone!
Sincerely,
Ida Figures
